Award winners at Paignton Club's Annual Presentation dinner
April 2011 - Paignton Club's annual presentation dinner was held at the Park Hotel and marked the end of another enjoyable and successful season. Congratulations to all winners who produced some excellent images during the season.
Sections 1 Open Competition was judged by Derek Stratton
Congratulations to Julia Rich on winning the first competition of the season with her atmospheric shot of the Dorset Steam Fair.
2nd - Keith Monroe's 'Paige 3'
3rd - Terry Long's 'Cheetah Stalking'
4th - fourth Steve Carne's 'Words Define us'
5th - fifth Pam Sherren's 'Curves and Shadows'
6th - Molly Clayton's 'practicing'.
Highly Commended were awarded to Brian McLean, Fiona Deans, Jeannine King, and Keith Monroe.
Sections 2 Competition - theme 'Reflections
Congratulations to Chris Champ on winning the second competition of the season. Second was Claire Dannatt; third Steve Carne; fourth Pam Sherren; fifth Jeannine King; and sixth Brenda Eyre. Brenda Eyre, Jon Flood, and Steve Carne were awarded Highly Commendeds.
Sections 3 Open Competition. Congratulations to Chris Champ on winning the third sections competition of the season with his striking portrait 'Sinai Girl. Second was Jeannine King's 'Stripes; third Steve Carne's Polyommatus icarus common blue'; fourth margaret Ewer's 'High Tide; fifth Terry Long's 'Cheetah'; and sixth Brian McLean 'Four spot chacer'.
Sections 4 Open Competition was judged by David Rayner CPAGB. Congratulations to Steve Carne on winning with Morning Breakfast. Second Pam was Sherren with 'Follow Me', third Jeannine King with 'Flies on a Tomato'; fourth Sharron Godfrey with 'the Weaving Shed'; fifth Keith Monroe' with 'Bathing in Window Light; and sixth Chris Champ ' with 'Coral Grouper'.
Pam's image was recently accepted in three International Salons in the Great British Small Print Circuit. Click on images to enlarge.
The Model Village cup was judged by Adrian Magor. The subject was 'Flight' and congratulations to: Chris Champ on first place with 'Osprey Mahabis Island, second and third places were awarded to Steve Carne for 'A Gentle Breeze' and 'Whoosh'. Pam Sherren, Margaret Ewer, Molly Clayton, and Keith Monroe were awarded highly commendeds. Click on Images to Enlarge
Punt Cup Print Competition (Panel of three or a triptych)
Congratulations to club members who were awarded top places in the recent Punt Cup print panel and triptych competition. Pam Sherren came first with her triptych 'In Flanders Fields'; secondon was Terry Long's 'The Crossing'; third was Mike Bond's panel of three prints entitled 'Cot Valley'. Mike's panel 'Valencia Architecture' was awarded a highly commended together with Steve Carne's 'Geese in a Hurry' and Sharron Godfrey's 'By the Sea Shore'. The competition was judged by Colin Bratcher who said the standard was very high throughout and it was difficult choosing the winners.
The Sleep Trophy is awarded to a panel of three digital images from different categories of photography. Congratulations to Pam Sherren on first place, Jeannine King on Second place and Peter Clarke on third. Brian McLean, David Bissell, and Molly clayton's panels were Highly Commended
The Images of the year competitions were judged by Mac Bouchere FRPS. In the print section Pam Sherren came first with 'Waiting on the Shore', second was Peter Clarke with 'Sweet Pea Seeds' and joint third were Jeannine King with 'Stripes' and Brian McLean with 'Sun Rise'. Julia Rich, Keith Monroe, Brian McLean, Chris Champ, and Dot Lumley were awarded Highly Commendeds. First in the projected section was Claire Dannatt with 'In the Pink' followed by Pam Sherren with 'Forgotten Landscape' and third Brian McLean with 'Red Veined Darter'. Jeannine King, Keith Monroe, Jane Booth, and Pam Sherren were awarded Highly Commendeds.
Maureen Dennis APAGB judged our friendly inter-club battle with Kingsbridge.
Paignton won by a small margin.
