FIAP is an International body of which the PAGB is affiliated; many International Salons of Photography worldwide have FIAP patronage. The exhibitions are run and judged in a similar way as the BPE exhibitions (for more details see BPE).
There are numerous FIAP exhibitions to enter - see website.
There are a number of FIAP distinctions, which can be gained with acceptances in FIAP exhibitions:
AFIAP - Your first acceptance must be received at least 12 months before you can be awarded your AFIAP certificate. In this period you are required to gain at least 40 Acceptances with at least 15 different photographs. This success must have come from at least 15 different salons with FIAP Patronage, and those salons must be from at least 8 different countries.
EFIAP - To apply for EFIAP you must be the holder of the AFIAP Distinction. You cannot receive your EFIAP award until at least 12 months after the date of your AFIAP certificate. You will be required to have gained at least 250 Acceptances with a total of at least 50 different photographs. This success must have come from at least 30 different salons with FIAP Patronage, and those salons must be from at least 20 different countries.
NOTE * different salons can now be taken to mean both different years in the same salons and also different named salons.
Evidence of all acceptances must be provided (so it is very important to keep good records, especially FIAP patronage reference numbers), every accepted image must be represented by thumbnail sized photos on a A4 sheet.
A portfolio of between 5 and 10, unmounted, A3 prints of your top accepted work must be submitted for assessment by a panel of judges. If 5 or more pass this assessment you will be awarded the AFIAP. FIAP will keep your portfolio whether you pass or not.
Award = medal, trophy, ribbon, HM, HC etc. and required for bronze, silver, gold medals etc.
EFIAP LEVELS
You must be the holder of the EFIAP or MFIAP award before you can apply for an EFIAP Level award and have held that for at least a year. There are four „Levels‟, Bronze (EFIAP/b), Silver (EFIAP/s), Gold (EFIAP/g) and Platinum (EFIAP/p) and each must be obtained in sequential order. None of your acceptances or photographs used at AFIAP and EFIAP count towards EFIAP Levels awards. The acceptances for these awards has to be from new images and only acceptances and awards gained after the date of your EFIAP certificate will count.
